We have just left Paulshafen and are travelling further north. Edole[1]! get off the train! There are medics at the station to welcome us. We march off. Just after the station, it’s a right turn and after a few minutes we’re standing in the courtyard of a former castle, which has now been converted into a military hospital. The admission formalities are quickly completed and then we climb a creaky wooden staircase to the first floor, where we are allocated a room. It is a large room with about ten beds, most of which are occupied. After the general introduction, I look for a bed and find an empty one in a corner. That’s nice. I like lying in the corner like this.

- ↑ The admission took place acc. to paybook p. 12 on 26th, and in his field post letter of 27th the author reports the transfer ‘yesterday’; there he does mention the place ‘Goldingen’, but probably only because this is easier to find as the next largest place.
