as reported by the General Fenizic News Service (GFN)
03.01.00 - The sun was
shining brightly when the participants of the Mounist
Vexillium Conference 301 arrived at the conference center, coming
from a banquet which had been preceded by prayers in the Old
Mosque of Fenizabad, the capital of Feniz. The scene was
dominated by the colourful ceremonial clothes of the scientists,
mounologists, and other delegates all wearing their respective
cult dresses. The Caliph of Feniz was greeted be
the crowd with vivid cheers, but when HRM the Sultan
emerged the people broke into a roar of joyful appreciation. HRM
had interrupted his round-the-vex trip just to attend this
conference. The other well-known dignitaries were welcomed with
friendly ovations, too, especially the dignified Emperor
of Mauretania and the famous Akhbaar Fahz of
Djeriga.
When the latter appeared, the security
cordon of policemen, constables and royal guardsmen became even
tighter as it had already been, looking like a ceremonial guards'
formation rather than a policemen's chain. His Excellency was
obviously pleased. He is known for his strong demand for safety
precautions.
No security issues have been reported as
yet due to the painstaking preparation of the event, much to the
satisfaction of the commander of the metropolitan police who is
in charge of the overall security of the MVC 301.
The congress was opened by a ceremonial
address by HRM the Sultan, titled, The World Of Today - A
Challenge For Mounism. Here some highlights of his one hour's
speech:
Your Eminencies! Brethren in
Moun! My Friends! Gentlemen! Salem aleijkum! Thank you for the
honour to be allowed to address myself to you. I have interrupted
my travel around our planet to accompany you in this important
congress. I have seen a lot of countries, a lot of our planet in
the past weeks, and I observed a changing world. Nothing stays
what it was like, everything is in a state of flux. The world is
dynamic, not static. In this world, men need a hold or support
which gives them stay and stability. This is the central function
and responsibility of Mounism; I want to surpass this and say, it
is the duty of all religions.
He closed his speech saying:
In this sense, I welcome you
all here in Feniz, the country where the sun is at home, and I
hope that you will find ways to take this sun home in your hearts
and bring its light to your faithful around the globe. May this
meeting be successful, and may it be repeated. Aleijkum es-selam!
After this address, His Holiness
the Caliph held an introductory lecture about "Mounism in
Feniz".
04 Jan 301 - This second
day of the Mounist Vexillium Conference 301 was
completely dedicated to real religious and related political
work. Two working groups had been formed which discussed
"Oecumenicity - Living Together With Other Religions"
and "Permanent Mounist Representation On Vexilium -
Requirement And Plan For An Organisation", respectively.
While the latter has not, according
to some participants, produced any results, the former must have
been all the more interesting. The discussions started in a
normal way, mainly driven by the participants from Davenport
who know best what it means to live as a minority with a lot of
other religions. Then Akhbaar Fahz, the Supreme Alliant, took the
floor and did not stop before he had delivered a 6-hour lecture
which then proved to be about "The Will of Moun: It Will Be
Done" - during intermission, Cilantro and Nutmeg-flavored
Chickpea patties had been served, courtesy of the Supreme Alliant
himself. Because of the length of his engagemant in this
workshop, another one which he had proposed himself (about
"Proper Mounist Hijinx to be Observed while Playing
Soccer") could not take place at all.
05 Jan 301 - This third
day of the great conference was mainly dedicated to
common religious services and prayers. The afternoon saw a great
solemn service at the New Mosque, with our Caliph holding a
sermon which concluded "So I saw that there is nothing
better for a man than to enjoy his work, because that is his
lot."
The day ended with huge fireworks.
05 Jan 301 - While the
fourth day of the Mounist Vexillium Conference saw the
great final rally with the delegation leaders addressing the
public on the place in front of the main gate of Fenizabad
yesterday, today the delegations left Feniz.
To the barely hidden disappointment
of His Excllence Akhbaar Fahz, the delegations had decided to do
without any diplomatic protokoll like ceremonial military guards
or firing salutes, because even if they held state offices like
Akhbaar Fahz, they were in Feniz on religious, thus more private
grounds, and, what is more important, Mounism should be
presented as a peaceful religion which does not need any
military.
The delegations came to the
decision, however, to hold the next meeting in Djeriga, and this
decision obviously pleased and appeased the Supreme Alliant in
such a way that he extended his thanks through another long
speech.

Aleijkum es-selam!
Emperor of Mauretania! King of Kings! Master of Masters!
Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Juddain! Lord of the White
Elephant! And an infinite number of other magnificent titles! And
yet, those who study the Holy Book know that it is only God who
attributes these honours as he pleases:
III:26
"O God !
Lord of Power (and Rule),
Thou givest Power
To whom Thou pleasest,
And Thou strippest off Power
From whom Thou pleasest(...)"
As therefore, all my titles, but one, are not worthy of my pride
or the pride of someone else. They are mere ornaments; their
presence or absence makes no difference to my soul. But there is
one title that is truly important to me: that of Caliph, the
Successor of the Prophet, as recognized by mauretanian-sect
mounists. My vast kingdom, since the formation of Brolecia and
San Patricio, is not mine and will never be again, perhaps a
godly punishment for some bad deed, but I shall exercise the
Caliphate until the day I die, even if there was not a single
other mounist soul in the Universe. To renounce the Caliphate is
to renounce the very purpose of my existence.
It is as therefore as Caliph that I address you. The Vexillium is
currently plagued by a spiritual crisis. Take note, for instance,
of the recent bomb placed in the Newton Cathedral when our
brethren who, like us, recognize only one God, commemorated the
birth of Cruis, one of the prophets who preceded the Prophet. Was
the attack not carried out by mislead souls, who wished to return
to a state of primitive paganism, renouncing the infinite grace
of the true God ? And what about the hordes of false prophets
that torment the great nation of Armatirion, the methods of which
forced the Government to ban all religions?
It is my understanding that such unnatural behaviours are the
responsibility of the great socio-economic evolution that was
achieved in this past century. We live in a plentiful world, and
we don't value all of His small daily gifts. We live in a fast
world, where we don't have time to reflect upon His grace. I
believe Mounism must evolve if it wants to survive in this fast
world of disposable ethics. The question is of the survival of
the human race: though God understands if some people aren't
mounist because they live in ignorance of His grace, or if they
carry out their cult in a slightly distorted version of mounism,
like Cruisianism, but he does not spare those who have had
knowledge of his teachings and decided to turn away. That is
precisely what the human race is doing, at the moment. In the
end, God's will is inescapable:
LXXXII:13-16
"As for the righteous,
They will be in Bliss;
And the Wicked-
They will be in the Fire,
Which they will enter
On the Day of Judgment,
And they will not be
Able to keep away therefrom."
I call upon you, congressmen here assembled, in the City of
Fenizabad, to find a way to make mounism more attractive for the
masses, more encompassing of the variety of creeds and forms of
cult in existence in Vexillium, and yet so as that the
fundamental qualities of our cult are not distorted. There must
not be a degradation of our values, nor the formation of
"fast faith", to be consumed and disposed off, such as
what happens with the drive-in cruisian weddings that take place
for, instance, in the Holy City of Nova Luxa, now turned into a
center of gambling and vanity, to my great disgust. We must be
more comprehensive of others, but we must remain true to
ourselves and to God.
Sermon by His
Holiness the Caliph Neer'Too-Gott
during the Solemn Service at the New Mosque
Brethren in Moun!
(1)
Meaningless! Meaningless! Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless. What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun?
Generations come and generations go, but Vexillium remains forever. The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises. The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course. All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again.
All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing.
What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which one can say, "Look! This is something new"? It was ere already, long ago; it was here before our time.
There is no remembrance of men of old, and even those who are yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow.
I devoted myself to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under heaven. What a heavy burden Moun has laid on men! I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind. What is twisted cannot be straightened; what is lacking cannot be counted. I thought to myself, "Look, I have grown and increased in wisdom more than anyone who has ruled before me; I have experienced much of wisdom and knowledge." Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind. For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
What does the worker gain from his toil? I have seen the burden Moun has laid on men. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what Moun has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil - this is the gift of Moun.
I know that everything Moun does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. Moun does it so that men will revere him.
Whatever is has already been, and what will be has been before; and Moun will call the past to account.
And I saw something else under the sun: In the place of judgment - wickedness was there, in the place of justice - wickedness was there. I thought in my heart, "Moun will bring to judgment both the righteous and the wicked, for there will be a time for every activity, a time for every deed."
I also thought, "As for men, Moun tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless. All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return. Who knows if the spirit of man rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?"
So I saw that there is nothing better for a man than to enjoy his work, because that is his lot. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?
Ah'meen.
